Highway 115 crash kills 1, injures 3 south of Peterborough: OPP – Peterborough | The Canadian News

One person died and three others were injured after an accident on Highway 115 south of Peterborough early Sunday morning.

According to the Peterborough County OPP, the single-vehicle accident occurred near County Road 10 in Cavan Monaghan Township.

OPP says the northbound vehicle went off the road for “unknown reasons.”

Four people were in the vehicle at the time, one was pronounced dead. Three others were initially taken to the Peterborough Regional Health Center with serious injuries, OPP said.

Two of the three were subsequently taken to a Toronto-area hospital, the OPP said Monday.

The victim has not been identified.

The highway was closed until shortly before 1 pm, the OPP was investigating. Turnouts were in place on Tapley 1/4 Line.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
