Hell in a Cell predictions: Bianca Belair highlights wild card in WWE

Hell in a Cell is currently one of the strangest pay-per-view cards WWE has created in recent years with all but one match coming from “Monday Night Raw.”

These smaller cards have had a habit of becoming pleasant surprises. Hell in a Cell certainly has the potential to be and could put an end to a number of feuds. However, it is the culmination of Cody Rhodes against Seth Rollins inside Hell in a Cell with at least the shadow of Bray Wyatt hanging over them. Wyatt sent out some cryptic tweets last week, hinting at a possible return to wrestling soon. This show and the potential of a new opponent for Rhodes would be in the realm of the possibility of Wyatt and The Fiend deciding to return to WWE.

With much to look forward to, The Post’s Joseph Staszewski gives his predictions for what will happen inside Chicago’s Allstate Arena at Hell in a Cell on Sunday (8 pm, Peacock).

Madcap vs. Happy Corbin

Madcap has put the jokes down and is back to get revenge on Corbin after his attack three weeks ago with a chair and the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal trophy. For Madcap to move forward as a more serious babyface, he needs to finally put Corbin behind him and he does it here in the only SmackDown match on the card.

To choose: Reckless

Kevin Owens vs. Ezekiel

Owens has spent the last few weeks trying to convince anyone who will listen, including Sami Zayn, that Ezekiel is Elias (which he is). Owens needs to get crazier here, so he probably can’t win this one. Maybe Ezekiel includes some of Elias’s moves to give him something for Owens to hold on to, but he has to go further for this to continue to work.

To choose: Ezequiel

Judgment Day (Edge, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley) vs. AJ Styles, Finn Balor and Liv Morgan

This isn’t as easy as it sounds because it’s hard for The Judgment Day to crush the caliber of babyfaces you have on Styles and Balor. Morgan just picked up a win over Ripley on Raw this week, so maybe that’s the one little miss WWE will allow for a faction he’s clearly involved with. It’s the first meeting of the full sides here so hopefully Judgment Day wins with Balor. o Morgan taking the pin.

Bobby Lashley vs. Omos and MVP (Match at a disadvantage)

MVP feels like he was added to this match to give Lashley a bigger threat and a new obstacle to overcome and take the fall or give All Mighty a chance to lose with dignity. This fight probably has to end with this match because what else can you do after Lashley and Omos have already fought in a cage? This whole story has felt more for Lashley than for Omos. So I’m going to pick him to beat the odds here, but I don’t feel too sure about it.

To choose: bobby lashley

Theory vs. Mustafa Ali (United States Championship)

Ali’s day will come at some point, hopefully, but it’s all about Theory right now. WWE has invested heavily in the 24-year-old and he likely has big plans ahead of him, as there is talk of a SummerSlam match with his childhood hero John Cena, no doubt. These two will make for a great fight, maybe a show stealer, but Theory will most likely use some nefarious means to win because WWE is doing everything they can to build heat around them.

To choose: Theory

Bianca Belair (c) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Asuka (Raw Women’s Championship)

If Naomi vs. Belair was Plan A, scrapped after she and Sasha Banks walked off “Monday Night Raw,” then this is Plan B to deliver the best possible match WWE can. While it is possible that WWE will reconsider keeping the belt in Belair as reported, it seems highly unlikely. These three may offer something special, but expect the EST to still walk away with the gold.

To choose: bianca belair

Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins (Hell in a Cell)

Rhodes and Rollins have given us one of the most compelling trilogies WWE has seen in a long time, even with American Nightmare winning the previous two matches. Rhodes tugged on Rollins’ tights to claim victory in Match No. 2, so this one will have to be much more decisive. Anything that isn’t a classic is going to feel like a less than adequate way to end this. As good as Rollins is still, Rhodes has bigger places to go and gets the win in a very physical affair.

To choose: Cody Rhodes
