Health unit reports 16 new cases of COVID

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported an additional 16 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

Seven of the cases were close contacts of confirmed cases, six were acquired in the community, and one case was travel-related. The sources of transmission for two cases are still under investigation.

No additional deaths from COVID were reported on Tuesday.

To date, 20,280 local residents have tested positive for COVID-19. Of these, 216 cases are active, 460 people have died and 19,604 cases are considered resolved.

There are 16 people hospitalized with COVID, including seven in intensive care.

COVID outbreaks remain active in eight workplaces, including two farms in Leamington and Tecumseh, a construction business in Windsor, three healthcare and social work settings in Windsor, a manufacturing plant in Essex, and a retail business in Leamington. .
