Head of the FIU says that Governor García Cabeza de Vaca is still on his list of blocked people

the owner of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Paul Gomezaffirmed that although the Collegiate Court of the Nineteenth Circuit ordered him to unblock the bank accounts of the governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco Garcia Cabeza de Vacait will remain in the list of blocked people.

The head of the FIU affirmed that the federal government faces a “closed judicial opposition”, arguing that very often judges and magistrates reverse decisions of the FIU.

In the case of the governor of Tamaulipas, he indicated that “he, in any case, is still on the list of blocked people. He can’t open a bank account right now. The ones he has, which is an account of 2 million pesos, is not a problem of spending, nor of money for him”.

He admitted that “a court did order that those accounts be unblocked, but he is still on the list of blocked people, all those who are on the list,” referring to relatives of the Tamaulipas president.

According to Pablo Gómez, Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca “has no immunity from federal criminal proceedings,” although in the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) is still pending to resolve a constitutional trial on whether or not the president can be arrested.

In this framework, the magistrates of the Collegiate Court of the Nineteenth Circuit, José Manuel Quistián Espericueta; Osbaldo Lopez Garcia; and Carlos Manuel Bautista Soto, revoked the decision to freeze the money deposits of the PAN politician.

According to the head of the FIU, “what the collegiate says is that in addition to an international request there was an analysis by the FIU, of course, we do not receive orders from foreign governments, if a government makes a request to us we have to analyze it and that It is what they criticize us for, they say that for having carried out an analysis, protection is granted and their accounts are ordered to be unfrozen,” he said.

On June 19, 2021, the FGR obtained an arrest warrant for organized crime and money laundering against the governor of Tamaulipas, but the arrest could not be executed because García Cabeza de Vaca obtained an amparo.

He promises not to persecute opposition deputies

Interviewed at the National Palace, Pablo Gómez Álvarez ruled out investigating the deputies of the PAN, PRI, PRD and MCas well as a PVEM deputy, who voted against the presidential initiative for electricity reform.

Are the deputies who voted against the electricity reform being investigated? He was asked: “We do not investigate and we do not investigate deputies either, it is not our function,” he replied.
