Sometimes the most striking art a home can feature is what is outside.

This idea is part of the Cambridge 26 model by Trico Homes. The 2,292-square-foot, front-wheel-drive single-family home is billed as a model home in Midtown.

The model can be built in the master planned community of Airdrie on scenic pond lots. This benefit is harnessed in several aspects of the home’s design, including the great room.

The elevated meeting space is highlighted by volume and considerable natural light. To capitalize on its open-up format, large windows cover the two-story rear-facing wall.

The dimensions and location of these windows make the exterior feel like part of the interior space. When the guests finish, this will serve as a focal point and leave them with an impressive memory of their visit.

A series of windows offer views and a considerable amount of sunlight when eating in the dining room.

Both spaces are part of an open concept design that connect to the centrally located kitchen. The L-shaped kitchen space features an island with a sink and an eat-in bar that seats at least three people.

The kitchen is shown with stainless steel appliances including a French door refrigerator, wall oven, and a sleek fireplace-style hood.

A spacious walk-in pantry provides generous storage space and a convenient path to the mud room. Using this pantry, one has a short and direct walk when carrying bags of groceries.

The design of the main entrance considers the importance of privacy. From the foyer, one has no sight lines to the back of the house, which is where the most frequently used and personal rooms are located.

However, the lobby is just steps away from a small six foot by nine foot office. This allows people who work from home the ease of welcoming and escorting clients or co-workers to their workspace without the need to cross paths with family.

On the second level, a central bonus room creates a winged effect, offering a buffer between the master bedroom and the children’s bedrooms.

The 14-foot by 16-foot master gives heads of families a luxurious gift. Instead of windows on one wall, which is the most common approach, he receives light through rear-facing windows and a side wall as well.

The master bathroom has a double sink vanity under a full width mirror, deep soaking tub and full height tiled glass enclosed shower.

A dressing room is accessed through the bathroom. This creates a single, fluid space in which to start the day, limiting the possibility of being disruptive if the other person in the couple needs to sleep later.

The secondary bedrooms are the same size and are located respectfully opposite and next to a full bathroom. The bathroom has a double sink vanity, allowing two children to brush their teeth at the same time.

Next to the bathroom is a large laundry room with a front loading washer and dryer. It comes with a large wire shelf, ideal for storing detergents, fabric softeners and bleach.

Midtown is located in a central part of Airdrie, putting residents close to shopping, services and restaurants. It’s also a seven-minute drive to Nose Creek Park.
