An afternoon of activities and displays is planned for Saturday, May 14, from 12 to 7 pm

There will be decadent rooms, a silent auction of school memorabilia and photo opportunity locations throughout the building. The town of Amherstburg will close Laird Avenue North from North Street to Ford Malden Drive to allow for food trucks at the event.

The organizing committee also recently announced that Amherst’s signature “Caf cookies” will be sold that day in the school cafeteria.

An Amherst leadership class will sell water and pop as a fundraiser for the new North Star school due to open in September to replace both Amherst and Western Secondary.

There will be a full lineup of local music that day featuring alumni musicians from the high school. The event is free to the public. T-shirts will be available for sale to help support enhanced amenities and programming at North Star.

Weekly updates on the 100-year celebration are available on Facebook.
