Brooks spoke about his affection for Edmonton, comparing it to a family reunion every time he visits the city.

“I am not from there but they have always treated me as if I were from there, as if I were theirs. Man, I have to tell you that is fantastic,” she said. “They have always treated the music as if it were their own and that is the beautiful thing right there.

“I have the best seat in the house at any Garth Brooks concert and to be able to see them sing, oh my gosh, it’s the best thing on the planet.

“I don’t know why, but I feel like it’s a family reunion. I’m ready.”

Brooks last played Edmonton in 2017 at Rogers Place, where around 160,000 fans packed the arena for nine sold-out shows. He is scheduled to play at Commonwealth Stadium on June 25.

Edmonton is the only Canadian stop on the tour.

“There are too many good times there, too many good memories there, between Calgary and Edmonton, that there’s no way you’re going to do a Stadium Tour without stopping there,” Brooks said in a separate interview with Global News Calgary.

“People say, ‘Why are you coming to Canada?’ And the answer is simple: because I’ve been there, right? That is the highest compliment you can give.”

The Stadium Tour actually started in 2019, but was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Brooks said canceling the tour was the right thing to do, but added that he’s much more excited now.

“If there’s a silver lining to all of this, the faces you see now that they’re finally back together, singing together, I think they’re more grateful, happier than I’ve ever seen them,” she said.

“Maybe we took it a little bit for granted. I must have done it because I feel so much better now on stage than ever, just because we’re back where we belong, and that’s together.”

So what can country music fans expect from the Stadium Tour?

“It’s stupid at high volume, that’s all. But it’s so much fun. About three or four songs will hit you, you’ll be like, ‘Wait a minute. This guy is not doing anything, we are doing all the work. And that is correct. I’ve been in this business for a while and I start the song, you finish it. I start the next one, you finish it. I can do that all night up there.”

Brooks said he was playing in Louisiana a few nights ago and the crowd went so crazy a little earthquake was captured by LSU seismograph. Expect nothing less from Edmonton.

“It was crazy, man. It was fun,” he said.

“I’m hoping for that outside of Edmonton and I don’t think it’s too far for them because I’ve been there, I’ve survived Edmonton and now I’m going back to try and put all those people that we saw in nine nights in a stadium. It’s going to be fun.

“The earthquake could become something normal. I’m very excited.”

The director of Commonwealth Stadium has previously said that Brooks and his team are making the most of the venue by putting the stage in the center of the field, making more seats available for people to watch the show.

Tickets for the Edmonton show go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday at ticketmaster.
