The Republican leader in Madrid meditates on the management’s offer to run for mayor of his hometown
ERC is going to put all the meat on the grill to revalidate their triumph of 2019 in the municipal, on a Catalan scale. According to ‘Nació Digital’, the leadership of the party, that is Oriol Junqueras and Marta Rovira, have offered the president of the Republican parliamentary group in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, head the list for the municipal of his hometown, Santa Coloma de Gramenet.
Party sources have confirmed the offer and that Ruffian is “meditating” an offer that, in any case, would be fully compatible with his seat in the Cortes. “We have all options open and we want to win everywhere”, another republican voice has asserted. This newspaper has not been able to locate the affected person to know his position.

Santa Coloma is the main fiefdom of the PSC in the north of Barcelona and it makes clear the will of ERC to fight the party in the territory, the metropolitan one, less inclined to its postulates, even when it is a party with more or less homogeneous support throughout Catalonia.
In the municipal elections of 2019, the PSC clearly prevailed with 50.95% of the votes , which gave Mayor Núria Parlón the comfortable absolute majority of 17 councilors (out of 31) that she still enjoys. ERC, for its part, was the fourth force with 9.91% of the votes, less than one point and 400 votes from the third (the ‘commons’) and less than 2,000 and four points from the second, Ciudadanos.
