The case of the missing young woman Gabby Petito took a tragic turn on Tuesday.
In a statement, Coroner Brent Blue, from Teton County, Wyoming, confirmed that the body found in a natural park in that state on Sunday corresponds to Petito.
“The initial determination of the coroner Blue on the manner of death is homicide,” said the office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI, for its acronym in English) in the city of Denver.
The authorities indicated that the exact cause of death will be made public once they arrive at the final conclusions of the autopsy.
Petito, 22, disappeared while with her fiancé, 23-year-old Brian Laundrie, on a cross-country road trip.
Police are currently searching for Laundrie, whose location is unknown.

The Florida-resident couple had been traveling the U.S. for several weeks before Laundrie returned home alone on Sept. 1.

No charges were filed, and officers recommended that the couple spend the night apart.

Laundrie’s family reported the boy missing last weekend. They assure that he left paseo the last September 14 and never came back.
The search for the fiancé has focused on a nature reserve near his home in North Port, Florida.
Police are using dogs, drones and ATVs to search the approximately 100-square-kilometer site, which police say is difficult to explore due to its swampy terrain.
In addition, authorities are investigating hundreds of calls from people who claim to have seen someone like Laundrie in Florida and the neighboring state of Alabama.
