A court in Wyoming, USA, issued an arrest warrant for Brian Laundrie, the boyfriend of young Gabrielle “Gaby” Petito, who was found dead in a natural park in that state.

In a statement posted on Twitter, the FBI maintains that the court’s arrest warrant is related “to the Mr. Laundrie’s activities after the death of Gabrielle Petito ”.

Petito and Laundrie, aged 22 and 23 respectively, traveled around the country this summer by truck, capturing their journey on social media. But the young man returned home to Florida on September 1 alone.

Ten days later, her family reported her disappearance and a national search was launched.

Laundrie’s search has focused on a nature preserve near her home in North Port, Florida.

In addition, authorities are investigating hundreds of calls from people who claim to have seen someone like Laundrie in Florida and the neighboring state of Alabama.

The disappearance on the trip

The Florida-resident couple had been traveling the U.S. for several weeks before Laundrie returned home alone on Sept. 1.

Laundrie nor reported to the police or the Petito family about the whereabouts of his fiancée. The young woman’s family reported her missing 10 days later.

Weeks earlier, police in the city of Moab, Utah, had been called in for a possible incident of violence of genre.

A police report indicated that Laundrie claimed that Petito had beaten in a brawl.

No charges were filed, and officers recommended that the couple spend the night apart.
