Fundraiser being held for burial costs for cyclist killed by vehicle

A fundraiser is being held by a local man who was killed on his bicycle in March which police say involved a hit and run driver.

Ken McEldowney’s family is seeking to raise sufficient funds to cover his burial and headstone costs.

The 58-year-old was hit near the intersection of Wyandotte Street West and Caron Avenue during the late evening hours on March 25.

Police later charged 28-year-old Kelsey Barkovsky with impaired driving causing death and leaving the scene of an accident.

The fundraising event for McEldowney is this Sunday from 3 pm until 10 pm at the Moose Lodge, located at 777 Tecumseh Rd W.

Tickets for the pasta dinner are $25 for adults, $15 for kids under the age of 13, while kids under five are free.
