Friendship Inn Volunteers Serve Hundreds of Thanksgiving Meals in Saskatoon – Saskatoon | The Canadian News

The Friendship Inn in Saskatoon served its annual Thanksgiving meal to those in need on Monday.

Development and engagement manager Laura Herman said they run 365 days a year, so the biggest difference is the food.

“Today will be a day like any other day here at Friendship Inn, just a slightly more special meal,” he said.

“We expect to serve about 1,000 meals in the course of today.”

Herman said that Friendship Inn has been consistent with COVID-19 protocols and has made sure everyone feels welcome.

“We have people in the dining room, one person per table is seated, with the exception of families with small children who come. And of course we will happily seat those people together, ”he said.

“There are many people who can be alone in our city, they have nowhere to go, they do not necessarily have the means to create a Thanksgiving dinner for themselves or their family.

“It’s really important to us to be able to create a community dining table here at Friendship Inn, to welcome everyone.”

Although grateful for the donations and volunteers, Herman said the need doesn’t stop after Thanksgiving at the community organizing.

“We are very grateful to the community that reaches out and shares food donations, financial donations with us just to be able to make it all happen,” he said.

“We are always looking for financial support, volunteer support from the community to make Friendship Inn work 365 days a year. We serve breakfast and lunch. “
