Freezing Rain Advisories Issued for Much of New Brunswick – New Brunswick | The Canadian News

Environment Canada has issued freezing rain advisories for most of northern and central New Brunswick.

The weather agency said snow and ice pellets that changed to freezing rain were expected to start in central areas of the province around noon, before moving north in the afternoon.

“Four to eight hours of freezing rain are expected before temperatures rise above freezing later tonight,” he said.

“Surfaces like roads, paths, trails, and parking lots can become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adapt your driving to changing road conditions. The accumulation of ice can cause tree branches to break. “

Environment Canada also issued rain advisories for southwestern New Brunswick, where 25 to 45 millimeters of rain is expected.

“A weather system will bring rain, wind and mild temperatures today and tonight,” he said. “Precipitation combined with rapid snow melt could cause localized flooding, especially in areas where snow banks block or inhibit storm drainage.”

Environment Canada says localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas.
