Fourth wave of Covid-19 can delay economic recovery: Caintra Nuevo León

Monterrey, NL. The Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Caintra) from Nuevo Leon considered that this fourth wave of Covid-19 can delay the Economic recovery. The growth estimate of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will be lower than last year when it reached 7%, while for this year it will be 3.6 percent.

The president of Caintra Nuevo LeonRodrigo Fernández Martínez commented: “We think that this year the GDP will have a more moderate growth, in 2021 we end up with 7%, this year we expect growth to be around 3.6%; in manufacturing we had a growth of 12.5% and this year we will have a growth of 5 percent ”.

“The important thing is that in the next two months we take the issue of Covid-19 very seriously, that we take care of ourselves, that we do not go to meetings, because this can make a difference, it can delay the economic recovery and the production of goods ”, Said the business leader.

He assured that the industrialists have committed themselves in the last two years with protocols and actions in the production centers that allow to have a low spread of COVID-19 and thus not affect the generation of jobs.

For example, sanitary measures are reinforced in work centers where presence in production and assembly lines is necessary; use sanitary filters with temperature taking, limited capacity in dining rooms, some other companies do random tests and use a three-layer mask, have personnel transportation and suspend visits to production centers.

Regarding the staggered entry of workers before 7 in the morning, he considered that they are positive measures as long as there is enough transport, and it also helps that around 80% of the population already has the complete vaccination scheme.

For his part, the general director of Caintra Nuevo León, Guillermo Dillon Montaña, explained: “in the survey we carried out as soon as we heard the news of helping with the state government in staggering schedules, we conducted a survey that showed that between 20 and 40% of the partners Caintra they start work at 7:00 am or earlier, this depressurizes the 8:00 am rush hour “.

He explained that they are now working with other companies that gave their consent to move their schedule to 7:00 in the morning or earlier, but they have to be very well articulated with the Ministry of Economy and Mobility, so that there is enough public transport, and this will prevent staff from being able to arrive on time.

Private transport

On the other hand, the president of Caintra Nuevo Leon considered that a significant number of companies have private transportation.

And regarding the issue of vaccines, he recognized that the state government has been very involved to the point of taking workers to the border to be vaccinated, and stressed that it is important that people get vaccinated, because it does make the difference, between getting infected. and getting to the hospital and the probability of dying, when they are not vaccinated.

“We call on people who have not wanted to be vaccinated, get vaccinated, it does make a difference, if we can greatly reduce the number of cases we have in the state, we will support any initiative to carry out 100% vaccination,” said Rodrigo Fernandez.
