Four works by Sedatu, nominated for the 2022 ArchDaily International Award

This Tuesday, the projects convened to receive the International Award were announced ArchDaily 2022, which recognizes the works of architecture worldwide, four of which have been developed by the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu), which was Urban improvement program (PMU).

According to Sedatu, two of the nominated projects are the La Duna Skate Park in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua and the Public Market in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. The first, created by architects Valia Wright, Eduardo Peón and Francisco Elías, competes in Sports architecture and best applied products, while the second space, designed by the Collective Office C733, competes in the classification of Commercial and cultural architecture.

Also in the category of Cultural architecture and landscape architecture and public buildings The Community Development Center in front of the Coffee Park in Tapachula Chiapas, developed by the Urban Acupuncture Laboratory, is nominated.

The Centro Cultural y Deportivo Santa Fe de Tijuana, Bajo California, also competes in the category of Best applied products and developed by the Plastic Architecture Laboratory.

“These are recognitions of architecture, but also of Mexican talent that are put at the service of the people, for the common interest. We work so that the public is the best, because that’s how it should be. These are spaces that, with worldwide recognition, can also attract tourists and more projects for those places “, said Román Meyer Falcón, head of the Sedatu.

According to the agency, these four projects are in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture of the Autonomous University of Mexico. “They were built in historically forgotten neighborhoods to promote safety, sports, employment, trade and the local economy for the benefit of the area’s residents.”

Sedatu emphasized that only five projects in each category will go to the final stage and the winning works will be available on February 17 on the official website of ArchDaily.

With these nominations, there are already 29, which contributes to the Sedatu, as well as mentions and recognitions to projects in various national and international architectural awards.
