Former Minister Navdeep Bains at CIBC

Former Innovation Minister Navdeep Bains quickly found a job following the election when he became Vice President of CIBC’s Global Network Investment Banking.

The politician will now be mandated “to develop and strengthen relationships with clients of the ruling class and expand business globally,” the banking institution said in a statement Monday morning.

“Our clients in the innovation and technology sectors are looking to increase their possibilities in a rapidly changing environment, and Mr. Bains’ experience will enhance the insight and advice we can offer them,” added the Director. General and Head of CIBC’s Global Network Investment Banking, Roman Dubzack.

A longtime MP elected in the suburbs of Toronto who has served in five legislatures since 2004 – he had only been defeated in 2011 – Navdeep Bains was Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry from November 2015 to January 12 2021, when he announced his resignation to devote more time to his family.

The member for Mississauga – Malton and financial analyst by training had nevertheless remained in office until the end of the federal election, co-chairing the Liberal campaign alongside Mélanie Joly.
