Former CFL running back pleads guilty to voyeurism | The Canadian News

Former CFL running back Jerome Messam pleaded guilty to voyeurism after videotaping a consensual sexual encounter without the woman’s permission.

Messam appeared via video link in a Calgary court Monday to plead guilty.

The court heard that he sent the woman four video clips of their November 2016 meeting on the social media platform Snapchat.

Messam was a Calgary Stampeder in 2016 and a Calgary police spokeswoman at the time said the charge “relates to the alleged videotaping of a consensual sexual encounter with a victim.”

The woman later filed a formal complaint with the Calgary police and the Canadian Soccer League.

Messam’s contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders was terminated after he was indicted.

The judge ordered a pre-sentencing report and the date for his sentencing hearing is expected to be set on March 11.
