Fonatur takes advantage of the Tianguis Turístico de Mérida to present the design of the wagons of the Mayan Train

Mérida, Yuc.- Within the framework of Mérida Tourist Tianguis, Yucatán, the interior and exterior design of the Mayan Train wagons was presented. which will be exhibited in the pavilion of this Priority Project from November 16 to 19 at the Mérida Convention Center, Yucatán.

According to the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism, the design is a tribute to the visual aesthetics of the region, which offers the user a first immersion in the cultural diversity found in the states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.

The designs will be presented in the pavilion of Fonatur and its subsidiaries at the TIanguis Turístico expo that will be held from November 16 to 19 in Mérida, Yucatán.

Fonatur announced that in the first stage of the Mayan train will have 42 units of passengers, which are divided into 3 types of services:

Xiinbal- will be 31 trains of regular service or standard mode where the design shows a pattern inspired by Mayan architecture, recognizable by the carved stone pyramids. The colors are turquoise in different shades, white and charcoal.

Another design is the P’atal, with 3 trains for long trips, whose wagons will have night hues that allude to the starry night that the classical Mayans studied in their role as astronomers.

Finally, there is the Janal design, with 8 restaurant trains and where a pattern inspired by the spots of the jaguar, the most representative feline in the region, is exhibited. The colors of this train are gold, chestnut and dark turquoise.

On May 26 of this year, the ruling of the international public tender for rolling stock was announced, which won the consortium led by Bombardier and Alstom, companies responsible for manufacturing these trains at the Ciudad Sahagún, Hidalgo plant.
