A fire in a building located close to the Bell Center took hours for firefighters to contain on Tuesday.
The fire broke out mid-afternoon near the corner of de la Montagne and St-Antoine Sts., on the third floor of an abandoned building that had previously burned, said Matthew Griffith, a spokesperson for Montreal’s fire department.
The Montreal fire department tweeted at 8:30 pm that they had the blaze under control.
About 110 firefighters were called in to extinguish the flames.
De La Montagne near St-Jacques St. W. were closed to traffic, as was St-Antoine St. near Lucien L’Allier St.. Motorists were advised to avoid the area at rush hour.
