Feminist economics

What I write here has been spinning in my head for a long time. Surely it has already been written on the subject, and there must be academic and philosophical texts that explain it better, because the feminist movement was not born yesterday, nor three years ago, nor a hundred years ago; However, this approach is merely experiential, it arises from observation.

Just as the feminist movement has a historical foundation, personally it is a journey that begins before you can name it, a spark that ignites somewhere between the stomach and the heart, sometimes to let you know that something is not right, and others to allow you to recognize its power. It may take a long time for you to recognize that it is a movement with a name, with a history, with a path that many women have traveled before, and that it is also formed by endless currents, so broad that it is difficult to study everything, and so constantly under construction that it is impossible to limit it.

For a long time, I tried to build projects that I could not achieve because I thought like a man. Not like a man, or like all men, but with an economic model built from the male mentality. (Feel free from this definition, all the men who read me here, I am not referring to you, I am referring to a system of which we are all a part.)

I wanted to build a network of women who worked in the media so that between us we could create and form new projects, networking, basically. The most basic things stopped me, it should be remembered that it was the pre-pandemic time, where are we going to meet? How much will it cost? Who’s going to pay? It was the money that stopped me, thinking that that was the requirement to be able to meet, have a place and pay for it. When this finally happened, it required no money, it started with a dinner at home, and a small group of friends. It continued to be built in different houses and each one brought what they could or wanted: wine, beer, food, dessert. We never need money, we just need disposition.

Today that small group that began with a dinner at home, brings together almost 150 women. Can you imagine how powerful 150 professionals from all fields are, united only with the desire to help each other?

That is an example that only those who belong to this group can bear witness to, but there is another story that will surely allow them to understand it better. What would it take to create a monumental memorial that bristles the skin of those who visit it? That it is so great that all the pain of a country in the face of its femicides fits. Let him name each one and at the same time name all of them. Provision is required.

The National Palace was surrounded by giant metal plates that were intended to protect it from feminist fury. (How afraid of the anger of women.)

In what we thought about upholstering it with the photos of murdered women, who was going to pay for the copies? Where were we going to get the photos? Collectives were presented with brushes and white paint to upholster it with the names of murdered women. More women wore pink paint to brilliantly transform the rivets into pink crosses. Many others brought flowers. And the one who had to leave left her brush and paint that was arriving, the one who brought a large bouquet shared it with those who were already there, so they all did. Feminist economics, which only requires will, makes things happen.

The feminist economy managed to put on the old pedestal of Columbus, a monument much more powerful and significant than the one that was and the one that will be. Feminist economics transforms, makes things happen, and works without anything that we previously considered indispensable. Feminist economics will transform the world, and make a better one than we know, even than we can even imagine.
