Faurecia will invest 147 million dollars to build its new plant in Apodaca


Monterrey, NL The company of French origin Faureciafrom Forvia Groupleader in the production of automotive technologyannounced an investment of 147 million dollars in the construction of its first shared plant in the country: one for interior design and another for the production of seats in Nexxus Industrial Parkin Apodaca.

“The interior plant will have an investment of 75 million dollars, including machines and the building for interior design of the vehicle,” said Stephane Letrudet, vice president of Faurecia Interiors Mexico.

The plant will have instrument panels, production lines for other interior modules, technologies and processes such as plastic injection, vibration welding, ultrasound welding, and assembly, based on renewable energy technologies, as they seek the certificate LEED.

The design of car seats has changed radically in recent decades, environmental concerns are increasingly important and the focus has shifted towards the well-being of the occupants, therefore a key factor is the reduction in weight of materials, Grienenberg stressed.

“We are committed to Mexico, we believe in the potential and strength of the automotive industry in the country, that is why we are excited to start the installation of this new plant, helping to promote the development of the industry in Nuevo León,” he said.

The construction of these plants, he said, allows hosting new projects, consolidating its presence in Mexico and bringing its operations closer to the southeastern United States.

“The seating plant will have an investment of 72 million dollars, including construction and machinery, with a total area of ​​20,500 square meters. We are aware of the challenges that the world has in terms of sustainability, which is why our facilities will provide a series of solutions that will allow us to be efficient with water and energy, with the aim that each project contributes to reducing CO2 emissions.”

Francisco de Campos Maciel, CFO and Country Lead of Faurecia Mexicohighlighted that the project contemplates the generation of 1,500 direct jobs and is expected to come into operation at the end of this year.

Worldwide Faurecia It has 257 industrial plants, 39 Research and Development (R&D) centers and 111,000 employees, distributed in 33 countries. It currently has in Mexico, with 16 production plants, 2 Research and Development centers and a Shared Services Center distributed in several states, employing some 11,000 workers.
