A woman in her thirties made a fatal swerve on Saturday afternoon on Highway 55 near Stanstead Township, in the Eastern Townships.
The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on the northbound road, near the sixth kilometer, said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The driver lost control of her vehicle at the entrance to the rest area and hit cement blocks, before ending her race in the central reservation.
The victim was then taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Two police officers in collision investigation of the provincial police went to the scene to determine the circumstances of the tragedy. The road has been closed for this purpose.
