Essex residents are being invited to attend an instructive community walk this Thursday evening that could change the way they see their community and account for their personal safety.

Representatives of OPP, Windsor police, and Windsor & Essex County Crime Stoppers will be attending the walk to provide advice, encourage discussion, and answer questions.

There will also be information about Youth Diversion Essex County — the cross-organization program meant to intervene in cases of at-risk or problematic children and youths.

The walk will begin 6 pm on Thursday at the Heritage Gardens Park Pavilion (87 Station St. in Essex). Public parking is available at the park.

Participants will follow a round-trip two-kilometre route through town from Heritage Gardens Park to Sadler’s Park Nature Pond and back. The event will continue until 7:30 pm

Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.

Attendance is free. Interested residents should pre-register by visiting www.essex.ca/SafetyWalk or call 519-773-7336 ext. 1124.
