EMSB outlines the back-to-school plan for January

The English Montreal School Board has outlined how students will return to face-to-face education following the government’s decision to push back the date amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.

In a memo to parents, EMSB said its elementary, middle school, and adult students will participate in online education from Jan. 6 to Jan. 14, with the exception of Mackay Center special education schools. and Philip E. Layton, who resumes face-to-face teaching on January 6.

All students will return to face-to-face classes on January 17 unless the government announces otherwise.

Emergency daycare for elementary students will be open while schools are closed, and priority will be given to parents working in health care and other essential service sectors. They will have to provide proof that they qualify, the school board said.

“Parents are asked to keep their children at home and, in very exceptional circumstances, can contact the school principal,” the letter said. “Schools with private nurseries will provide details about the service offered to their families.”
