Electromobility allowed the transfer of 101.6 million passengers in CDMX during 2021: Semovi

As a result of the detonation strategy of the electromobility, the Government of Mexico City reported that in 2021 a total of 101.6 million passengers were transported in the new electrical infrastructure.

According to the Mobility secretary (Semos) of the country’s capital, this number of passengers was concentrated in the two new Cablebús lines, in the 193 new trolleybuses, as well as in the 10 new electric buses and in the Light Rail, which expanded its capacity by changing tracks.

The state agency recalled that Lines 1 (Indios Verdes-Cuautepec) and 2 (Constitution of 1917-Santa Marta) of the Cablebús were inaugurated during 2021, precisely the investment for the two routes exceeded 6,000 million pesos.

Due to this new transport, which now belongs to the Electric Transport Service (STE) of the capital, it has been possible to reduce 50% of the travel time of users.

“This mobility option has managed to transfer more than 14.5 million passengers and last December 18 the record of influx was registered on Line 2 with more than 75,000 passengers in a single day”, detailed the Semos this weekend.

The Cablebus Line 2According to the local authority, it also generates environmental benefits, since it achieves the mitigation of 7,720 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year, which represents the reforestation and care for 50 years of 19,643 pine trees.

The local government recalled that an investment of 1,757 million pesos was made for the fleet of 193 new trolleybuses, with which more than 61 million people have been mobilized on the Zero Emissions lines, 2, 3, 7 and 9.

“Another of the changes in favor of electromobility made during this year (2021) was the entry into operation of ten new units of electric buses, which operate on Line 3 (Tenayuca-Pueblo Santa Cruz Atoyac) and in which they have transported 1.6 million users since August 30, thus beginning the transition from Metrobús to electric technology, “he remarked.

Each bus seeks to save 40 tons of CO2 in 10 years and thus place the capital at the forefront of the electromobility in Latin America.

Meanwhile, since the major maintenance works were carried out on the Mexico City Light Train, 24.5 million passengers have been transferred.

The total investment in maintenance of the 13.5 kilometers of this transport’s roads amounted to 744 million pesos and with this the travel time from Tasqueña to Xochimilco was reduced from 55 to 33 minutes by increasing the operating speed.
