Edomex, CDMX and Querétaro, with the highest increases in unemployment


Queretaro, Qro. In the first quarter of the year, 13 entities maintained an unemployment rate above the same period in 2019, before the effects of the health contingency due to Covid-19, according to the Inegi.

The State of Mexico accounts for the largest increase in the period, with an increase of 1.13 percentage points (going from 4.19 to 5.33%), in second place Mexico City with 1.12 points (from 4.73 to 5.85%), in third Querétaro with a rise of 0.98 (from 2.64 to 3.62 percent).

Nuevo León continues with an increase of 0.80 points (from 3.40 to 4.20%), Coahuila de Zaragoza with 0.77 points (from 4.25 to 5.02%), San Luis Potosí with 0.77 points (from 2.18 to 2.95%) and Puebla with 0.66 (from 2.41 to 3.07 percent).

On the opposite side, the remaining 19 entities decreased their unemployment rate in the first quarter of the year, including Tabasco, which had the most pronounced decrease, of -2.72 points (from 7.51 to 4.79 percent).

During the January-March period, 11 states exceeded the national unemployment rate, which was 3.45%, Mexico City had the highest rate, 5.85%, followed by the State of Mexico with a rate of 5.33%, Coahuila de Zaragoza with 5.02 percent.

In addition to Tabasco with 4.79%, Tlaxcala with 4.39%, Nuevo León with 4.20%, Tamaulipas with 3.78%, Guanajuato with 3.64%, Querétaro with 3.62%, Durango with 3.58% and Aguascalientes with 3.52 percent.
