Drug trafficking and gangsterism | Two Hells Angels from Quebec arrested and charged

Two members of the Hells Angels from the Quebec section among the most influential of the group, Marc Roberge and Mario Auger, were arrested Wednesday morning following an investigation by the Sûreté du Québec.

Marc Roberge, 60, and Mario Auger, 55, face charges of gangsterism, conspiracy, trafficking in cocaine, methamphetamine and GHB, possession of cannabis for the purpose of sale and possession of sums of money derived from the commission of a crime.

The alleged acts allegedly occurred between February 2021 and December 2022.

In total, around ten individuals were arrested following this investigation carried out by the National Squad for the Repression of Organized Crime (ENRCO) led by the Sûreté du Québec.

Around 70 police officers from the SQ, but also from the Quebec City Police Department and the Lévis police took part in the arrests on Wednesday morning.

Two old enemies

Mario Auger has been a member of the Hells Angels since May 1998.

He was one of the many bikers arrested and charged following the major SharQc operation in April 2009.

According to the evidence filed, which was based in particular on the testimony of an informer, Dayle Fredette, Auger was sergeant-at-arms between 1999 and 2002, was in charge of weapons caches and gathering information on enemies, and was one of the leading warriors of his section.

Auger admitted his participation in a machine gun attack on a Rock Machine premises in Stoneham in 1998.

He also admitted to plotting murders, including that of a pharmacist who supplied a Rock Machine member with drugs to make drugs.

In 2016, Auger was sentenced to 15 years for conspiracy to murder in the wake of SharQc and had five years and four months left to serve.

He has several criminal records. In 2002, he was sentenced to 35 months in penitentiary following his arrest along with several bikers and individuals from the Quebec region and New Brunswick in a major investigation called 4 h.

Marc Roberge is a former Rock Machine from the Quebec region who became Hells Angels after the biker war.

In SharQc, he was part of a group of 31 individuals accused of drug trafficking, but released by a Superior Court judge due to judicial delays.

According to a source, once released, Roberge would have been one of those who protected the interests of the Hells Angels of the Quebec section while they were still detained pending further proceedings, a bit like Salvatore Cazzetta, he also released in the group of 31 and he also a former Rock Machine, did it in the Montreal region.

Roberge was notably sentenced to five years of imprisonment for conspiracy and production of narcotics in 1997, and to one year for conspiracy in 1994.

The arrests on Wednesday morning are not linked to the recent violent conflict between the Hells Angels of Quebec and their school clubs, and David Turmel’s gang.
