Vancouver police responded to the fatal four-car collision just after 6 am, and the road was closed for several hours.

A dark-colored Toyota Corolla was headed north on Granville at West 46th Avenue when it crossed into the southbound lanes and hit several vehicles, injuring two other drivers.

“Investigators believe the Corolla was speeding when it crossed the center line, side-swiped a taxi, struck a Porsche, then went airborne over a truck before landing on top of a Hyundai Elantra and coming to rest back on the pavement,” said VPD spokesman Sgt. Steve Addison in a news release.

The driver of the Corolla was trapped in the vehicle and died.

Addison said the drivers of the Porsche and Hyundai were both taken to hospital, while no one in the taxi was injured.

Anyone who saw the Corolla before the crash or has dashcam video in the area is asked to call the VPD collision investigation unit at 604-717-3012.
