“The collisions began on the QEW at Hurontario, at which point the vehicle involved exited and proceeded northbound on Hurontario Street,” says Const. Akhil Mooken.
Mooken says the vehicle subsequently got into another collision at The Queensway, continued again northbound and became involved in another crash at Burnhamthorpe Road.
The Cadillac struck eight separate vehicles in total.
A male driver fled on foot after the vehicle became inoperable near Hurontario and Burnhamthorpe.
Officers were able to locate and arrest the driver shortly after he fled. He was transported to a local hospital for assessment.
Police say one other person suffered minor injuries as a result of the collisions.
All westbound and northbound lanes are closed at Hurontario and Burnhamthorpe for the investigation.
