Doorman contacted by police over video of man being beaten


Police have confirmed that they are investigating an assault involving doormen and a man in the city center.

Officers received a report that a man was assaulted outside Our Bar on Temple Court, just off Mathew Street in the city center, around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 2. Footage of the incident has only surfaced in the past few days and has been widely shared on social media. media.

The 19-second clip begins with two men, who appear to be goalkeepers, bending over a man wearing a gray T-shirt on the ground. One of the goalkeepers punches the man to the ground while another appears to hold him down.

At one point, the video shows one of the goalkeepers grabbing the man by the back of the head and kneeing him in the face. He then grabs him by the face and repeatedly punches the man. The man in the gray blouse falls on his side, where the clip shows the goalkeeper kicking him in the chest.

Another goalkeeper punches him in the face again. A Merseyside Police spokesman said the man attended hospital for his injuries and has since been released.

At about 13 seconds into the video, a retiree appears to try to break up the fight and approaches the goalkeeper to stop him. The clip shows another goalkeeper kicking the older man from behind. The man on the ground gets up and walks away.

It is unclear what may have occurred before filming began, however police confirmed today that they are investigating the incident. Extensive CCTV and eyewitness investigations have been carried out into the incident and three men are due to voluntarily attend the interview at a police station in Merseyside, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact the police. Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “This was a nasty assault that left one man injured and we are aware of shocking video footage of the incident circulating on social media.

“Since we were made aware of the assault last month, we have been conducting extensive investigations to find those responsible, including working with our partners at CityWatch and licensing.
