Dominique Anglade wants to keep the silver from the mines in the region

Passing through Abitibi-Témiscamingue as part of a pre-election tour, the leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Dominique Anglade, spoke of the return of a greater percentage of mining royalties to the region.

There is the whole question of royalties, so that more of them come back to the region. It’s part of our Charter of the regions where we say that it’s not normal for companies to give royalties to the government, but that in the end, the region here and the cities here do not have a sufficiently high percentage of these royaltiesshe says.

Among the other measures put forward by the Liberal Party to seduce the electorate are at the top of the list of tax cuts.

It’s not just to seduce, it’s really to give means because no matter the salaries that people have today in the middle class, the reality is that you have difficulty buying groceries , you have difficulty finding suitable accommodation. So obviously there are housing measures that need to be put forward, but we need to put money back in the pockets of all Quebecers.mentions Ms. Anglade.

The Liberal leader also returned to the issue of atmospheric contaminants in Rouyn-Noranda, in connection with the activities of the Horne Foundry, owned by Glencore. Asked on our airwaves about how her political party would intervene in the air quality file in Rouyn-Noranda if she were brought to power, she replied:

I want to fix the air quality problem, I want to sit down with all the players around the table. It’s a health issue, the reports say there’s a huge impact, so we absolutely have to find solutions. We can’t sit there with our hands crossed and tell ourselves that we’re not going to get out of the reports. We are not going to give information to the population and we are going to pretend that there is no problem.

According to Dominique Anglade, it is possible to make significant improvements in the emissions of the Horne Foundry without having to close the company.

I think we can work very well with that employer and find solutions. I don’t see how today, in 2022, we can’t do it. Since 2019, you know you have a stake. How is it that you’re not sitting there saying: “here’s how it’s going to evolve, here’s how we’re going to work together to make sure it’s settled once and for all” and that we reassure the population that ‘we reassure the parents to say to themselves: “here, we have the right to have an air quality that is the same as everywhere in the rest of Quebec”argues Ms. Anglade.

A candidate in Rouyn-Noranda-Témiscamingue

Dominique Anglade took advantage of his visit to Abitibi-Témiscamingue to confirm that the PLQ candidate for the riding of Rouyn-Noranda-Témiscamingue had been chosen for the elections next October.

The professional commitments of this person prevent him from being presented for the moment.

The person has already been chosen, but they are currently occupying a position, so it should be done in the coming weeks.says Ms. Anglade.

The candidates in the two other constituencies in the region are known, while the former deputy Guy Bourgeois will run in Abitibi-Ouest and that the former mayor of Senneterre, Jean-Maurice Mattewill seek the votes in Abitibi-Est.
