Tennis player Novak Djokovic owns 80% of Danish biotechnology company QuantBioRes, which is seeking to develop a medical treatment against Covid-19, the company’s CEO told Reuters.
Ivan Loncarevic, CEO, who described himself as an entrepreneur, said it the investment was made in June 2020, but does not want to say how much it amounted to.
QuantBioRes It has about 11 researchers in Denmark, Australia and Slovenia, according to Loncarevic, who stressed that they are working on a treatment, not a vaccine against the coronavirus.
The company develops a peptide that inhibits Covid-19 infection in the human cell and hopes to start clinical trials in Britain this summer, he added.
A Djokovic spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
