Director of the DIF of Acayucan, Clemente Nagasaki Condado, was assassinated in a public event


A municipal official from Acayucan, Veracruzwas shot to death this Thursday during a breakfast attended by some 200 people, most of them women and some children, local authorities reported.

The victim, Clement Nagasaki Countywas director of the Comprehensive Family Development system (DIFF) and was a member of the leftist Party of the Democratic Revolution. Years ago he was a municipal legislator and deputy state attorney.

“An investigation folder was started for the events in which the President of the municipal DIF of Acayucan, Clemente Nagasaki Condado, lost his life, raised this morning in the “Los Manguitos” room,” the Veracruz prosecutor’s office reported on Twitter.



The attack occurred when the official was leading a breakfast, in a local establishment, with municipal employees and members of a civil organization to fight cancer, most of them women, some accompanied by minors.

“An armed subject arrived at the scene carrying out detonations” against the official, “causing him fatal injuries,” says a local police report.

The official is the brother of the current mayor of Acayuca, Rosalba Rodriguezwho in statements to the local press demanded that “this devious crime be investigated.”

The victim and her family would have been the target of threats from a criminal group.

Veracruz, which extends over the Gulf of Mexico, is one of the states hit by violence linked to organized crime.

Since December 2006, when the government launched a controversial military anti-drug operation, Mexico has recorded more than 340,000 murders, most attributed by authorities to clashes between criminal organizations.
