Diocese of Nuevo Laredo warns of migration crisis

With nearly 2,000 Haitian migrants waiting in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, to enter the United States, the Diocese of Nuevo Laredo warned of a possible humanitarian emergency due to the arrival of more Haitians, while calling on the authorities to attend to their needs.

And it is expected that once the United States government terminates the application of Title 42, on May 23, migrants of Haitian origin will arrive in the city of Nuevo Laredo, which borders the state of Texas, to ask the US authorities to enter the country through political or humanitarian asylum.

In recent days, the Civil Protection authorities of Nuevo Laredo announced the arrival of 700 migrants, from Haiti, and who remain outside the Municipal Shelter waiting to be channeled somewhere, while the United States immigration authorities determine if they give them political asylum.

Through its social networks, the Diocese of Nuevo Laredo requested the help of the population to send articles for basic needs to the migration centers, due to the high number of people who arrived in the municipality.
