Deputies urge the head of the SSPC to address the growing insecurity in Mexico

The context of violence that exists in Mexico warrants the implementation of public policies that address the structural causes beyond the displacement of Security elements, highlighted legislators during the installation of the Citizen Security Commission in the Chamber of Deputies.

Before the holder of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Rosa Icela Rodríguez, the members of said Commission called for the implementation of new legal instruments in accordance with the problem of violence that Mexico suffers.

Francisco Javier Huacus Esquivel, from FART, expressed that because the issue of insecurity has gone to the background and that today it is a conflict for different orders of government, it should be considered that this problem constitutes one of the great problems of Mexico in the face of the increase in crimes and the boom of drug trafficking.

Today we live in a country where organized crime, which was previously a parallel and hidden power, has expanded its radius of action in a shameless power struggle … And has launched an offensive against the State and society, “he said.

For MC, the deputy Ivonne Ortega Pacheco, reiterated that there is a sense of urgency to address insecurity in the country, so sufficient resources must be guaranteed for the police, in addition to addressing the causes of violence and impunity .

Likewise, he stressed that it is necessary to strengthen public security agencies, since, he added, the militarization of security has already demonstrated for many years that it is a failed strategy, where the reaction and use of force is prioritized, without results.

“It is urgent to think of new ways to build peace,” he stressed.

In his speech, the federal deputy for the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), Carlos Iriarte Mercado, stressed that the presence of the secretary Rosa Icela, alone warns of the relevance of this issue for Mexicans.

The PRI member considered that the tasks of the Citizen Security Commission and the issue of public security in general, carries a great responsibility, however, he said, the response of the Mexican State has been insufficient for years and naturally Mexicans continue to express themselves in different forums, spaces, in everyday life, in their communities , in their collective groups.

The president of this Commission, deputy Juanita Guerra Mena (Brunette), stressed that issues related to cybercrime, electronic and identity theft, and cyber fraud will be addressed.

By declaring installed the Citizen Security Commission, Guerra Mena specified that the challenges of that instance are to adapt and, where appropriate, create legal norms that allow the authorities to combat crimes such as cybercrime, electronic theft, identity theft and cyber fraud.

“Modalities by which we must modernize the laws and update them in the best practices and, in this work, civil society is a fundamental ally,” he said.

He pointed out that it is urgent to strengthen the institutions in charge of security, “we must be aware that a major reform is required in terms of security from the construction of a comprehensive agenda that allows, from the institutional and legal perspective, the exercise of the coercive order of the State ”.
