Denmark detects 183 cases of omicron and triples infections in 48 hours

The State Serum Institute of Denmark has reported this Sunday of 183 cases of the omicron variant of the coronavirus, a “worrying” circumstance, according to authorities.

These data, published on the organism’s website, imply that infections have tripled in 48 hours. Furthermore, supone exceed in a single country the data in force so far by the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention, which had counted only 182 omicron cases across the EU, Norway and Iceland.

“We are witnessing a worrying increase in the number of omicron infections in Denmark. There are chains of contagion and cases among people who have not traveled or have any relationship with anyone who has traveled,” said the director of the Institute, Henrik Ullum, in a statement.

“We are working intensively to slow development with the detection of the virus variant in the laboratory so that the Danish Agency for Patient Safety can start detection of infections as soon as possible,” added Ullum.

Además, Ullum has appealed to the vaccination. “Greater immunity gives our society greater resistance in case omicron infections increase even more,” he explained.
