Decrease in the loan portfolio impacts the assets of credit unions

The balance of total assets of the Credit Unions They were located at 61,214 million pesos at the end of July 2021, which means a monthly growth of 1.62%, but in annual comparison they had a decrease in real terms of -3.5%, mainly due to the decrease in the loan portfolio.

Also, the current loan portfolio recorded a balance of 43,632 million pesos, which represents a real annual decrease of -4.5% and a 71.3% share in total assets.

According to information from the National Baking and Stock Commission (CNBV), at the end of the seventh month of the year, the UC sector was made up of 82 entities in operation compared to 83 unions at the end of July 2020, which was derived from the revocation of Credit Union Empresarial, last December 2, 2020.

It should be noted that 49.4% of the sector’s assets were concentrated in five entities: Agricultores de Cuauhtémoc (12%), Ficein (11%), Industrial y Agropecuario de la Laguna (9%), Alpura (8.1%) and La Contaduría Public (7 percent).

With regard to liabilities at the end of July 2021, the balance was 49,684 million, which represents a real annual reduction of 4.3%, but compared to June 2021 it had a growth of 2 percent.

According to the CNBV, the total loan portfolio decreased 3.9% in real terms, to stand at $ 46,077 million pesos at the end of July 2021. This reduction was mainly explained by loans with other guarantees.

Said loans totaled 23,673 million pesos, with a real annual decrease of -2.9% and a participation of 51.4% in the total loan portfolio.

The current loan portfolio of the sector reached a balance of 43,632 million pesos as of July 2021, with a real decrease of 4.5% compared to the same month of 2020.

Loans from banks, partners and other organizations were for 47,897 million pesos, with a real annual decrease of 4.7 percent. 69.1% corresponded to partner loans, which decreased 6.9% in real annual terms.

Results

Finally, the CNBV reported that at the end of the January-July 2021 period, the accumulated net result of the sector was 347 million pesos, an amount 176.4% higher in real terms, when compared to the same period of the previous year.

The other income of the operation grew 377 million, in relation to what was observed in the period of January-July 2020. The balance of this account went from 33 million in July 2020 to 410 million in July 2021, derived from the fact that in July In 2020, UC Progreso presented a loss of 434 million pesos due to the transfer of its loan portfolio.
