For the last fortnight of 2021, it is expected to achieve up to 60% of the economic income of 1,500 million pesos that the sector projects for the period from December 1 to January 1, commented the president of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Canaco Servytur), Querétaro delegation, Fabián Camacho Arredondo.
“The spill forecast is similar to what was had in 2018, which tells us that there is a recovery process (…) To date, expectations have been met, especially in this season prior to Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Years, particularly in topics such as social events, some consumption in department stores, consumption for inns, for some gifts in work centers ”, he explained.
In the last fifteen days of the year, consumption is revitalized, because the work centers have already paid the Christmas bonus and with this the possibility of consumers’ purchase is encouraged.
“We are trusting that during this week and the one that follows, about 60% of the forecast that we have of an economic spill can be covered, this last week, with most of the work centers that having paid the Christmas bonus, it is predicted that consumption may be generating positively during these last days of the year “, he pointed out.
In the season december demand is concentrated in gift items, household items and tourism services. The chamber reports that the average ticket per household for Christmas dinner is around 1,500 pesos at the state level, considering four to five members per family.
However, this year the requirements for banquet services and dinner contracts have been resumed, services that last year were paralyzed due to the effects of the pandemic.
With the season december, There is also an incidence of robberies in the commercial sector. According to the leader of the chamber so far there have been 25 attempts of ant theft, which is why the chamber is in coordination with the police corporations to create security conditions in the establishments.
“During this season (ant thefts) increase. We have 25 attempts of ant theft, many of them have been reported to the authority and for this we are in frank coordination with the security agencies to be able to provide a season december of a lot of security for the shops and naturally for the consumers ”, he explained.
Tertiary activities
During 2020, the tertiary activities of the state decreased 7.3%, according to the results of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The fall was mainly due to wholesale trade, which fell 13.9%; as well as transportation, mail and storage that fell 20.3%; temporary accommodation and food and beverage preparation services fell 48.7% and retail trade with a 7.2% drop, the institute details.
