Found guilty in April of 18 of 22 charges for physical and psychological abuse of five residents, a long debate on the sentence that the accused should have will take place in the coming weeks.

After seven years of long legal proceedings, the victims of the pastor of the Evangelical Baptist Church finally won their case, while the judge recognized the guilt of Claude Guillot last April.
The assault, harassment and forcible confinement of which the accused was convicted took place between 1982 and 2014 in Victoriaville and Quebec. In his decision, the judge had determined that the angry pastor tried to cover up the truth and therefore did not uphold his defense of right to correction.
Incarceration
After the verdict, the Crown had requested the incarceration of the pastor on the spot, which the judge had refused, while the sentence of the 71-year-old man was determined.
The possibility of a proposal for a joint award had been mentioned, which would have simplified the procedures.
End to proceedings
But now a long debate on this sentence will have to take place in this file which stretches in length.
The case, which already has more than 80 appearances in the courtroom, will therefore continue in the coming weeks before Judge Christian Boulet decides on a sentence which will put an end to the procedures which have been going on since 2015.
