Dead woman, man in custody after assault in North York – Toronto | The Canadian News

A woman was killed and a man was taken into custody after an assault in North York on Saturday night, Toronto police said.

Emergency services were called to a home in the Sheppard Avenue West and Jane Street area for reports of unknown problems at 10 p.m.

Police said officers arrived and found a woman who suffered fatal injuries.

Officers detained a man.

Toronto paramedics said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not say whether the victim and the suspect knew each other.

The homicide unit has taken over the case.
