Victim of a cyberattack last week, Collège Montmorency de Laval confirms that “some personal information has potentially been compromised” among its students and staff.
The establishment has indicated that its entire “community” will be able to benefit from the services of a “company offering credit file monitoring” free of charge.
“In a few days, we stabilized our environment, diligently and rigorously conducted the analysis, identified certain targeted data and informed our community continuously. At all times, transparency, rigor and benevolence have guided our actions”, indicated the management of the College in a press release.
The investigation initiated following the attack tends to show that certain personal information on Collège Montmorency’s computer servers could have fallen into the hands of malicious people.
“Currently, according to the information we have, only part of the College’s computer systems seem to have been the subject of data exfiltration, and this, for a limited period, which explains why we have no evidence that confirms that the information relating to the students is called into question”, made a point of specifying the direction.
Despite the absence of an internet network within the walls of the establishment, classes and activities will continue until further notice.
