A crowd of approximately 150 gathered on the Windsor riverfront Saturday for the Freedom Alliance Accountability Rally to listen to speakers rail against the provincial and federal governments and all the COVD-19 pandemic restrictions.

Conspiracy theorist Chris Sky was one of a number of speakers who spoke about the trucker protest at the Ambassador Bridge and the “freedom fighters” who were pulled from their trucks and arrested.

Sky acknowledged the small size of the rally in some of his early remarks.

“The numbers here are smaller than normal because everyone thinks we’re back to normal but we’re not,” Sky said. He noted that 25 per cent of sales from food and clothing at the rally would be going towards the legal fees of one of the truckers arrested during the blockade.

Local anti-lockdown activist Currie Soulliere spoke about a recent visit to the emergency department of a local hospital for treatment of a head gash. Her refusal from her to wear a mask saw her handcuffed and carried out of the building, she said. Eventually, she said she was allowed back in but “I was never charged and I never covered my face.”

Someone dressed as Waldo handed out red liquorice and local candidates with the Ontario Party spoke out against the Doug Ford government.
