A total of 1,493 people are now hospitalized — the lowest figure since early April.

The province also reported that 12 more deaths have been attributed to the virus, bringing the cumulative death toll to 15,338 since the start of the pandemic.

The province that announced a further 612 cases had been confirmed through PCR testing at its clinics. Insofar as this method of testing is not accessible to most Quebecers, the case numbers are not wholly representative of the situation in the province.

Quebec administered a further 12,640 vaccine doses on Wednesday. Since the start of the vaccination campaign in late 2020, 19,824,501 doses have been administered.
