COVID outbreak declared at the Beata Margarita Catholic school in Cittá di Castello

Toronto Public Health (TPH) has confirmed another school-related COVID-19 outbreak, this time at Cittá di Castello’s Blessed Margherita Catholic School in North York.

The health unit says it identified more than two positive infections, leading to the diagnosis of the outbreak.

“We are carefully investigating and following our process of working with our school community to notify close contacts and ask them to stay home, monitor symptoms and get tested,” says TPH.

“This is not unexpected given #COVID-19 continues to circulate in our city and how transmissible is the #DeltaVariant it is. Detection measures and follow-up of the steps for self-protection work ”.

A recent outbreak was announced at Elmlea Junior School in Etobicoke. Outbreaks have also previously been reported at King George Junior Public School and Alvin Curling Public School.

On Wednesday, the province reported 179 new COVID-19 cases at its school boards, 153 of which are in students.
