The City of Vancouver tells staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 6.

“Beginning December 6, 2021, the City will require that all personnel be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which is also a requirement for VFRS employees,” Chief Karen Fry told Global News.

However, Vancouver police are not mandated with vaccinations for city personnel and are not required to get vaccinated, at least not yet.

“We are aware of the current climate and we are working on our policy,” the Vancouver Police Department said in a statement.

That policy is expected to include mandatory vaccinations, and may be announced in a few days.

The new Surrey Police Service is still recruiting officers, but all personnel working for that force will need to be double vaccinated.

“Anyone who wants to be hired by the Surrey Police Service, whether it is a recruit who will eventually go to the British Columbia Institute of Justice for training or someone with experience, will have to be vaccinated,” said the Chief of SPS. Const. Norm Lipinksi said.

RCMP officers, like most other federal public servants, must show that they have been fully immunized by October 29.
