The transit authority says it will require all employees to provide proof of complete vaccination by November 29.

All employees of TransLink, Coast Mountain Bus Company, BC Rapid Transit Company, and Transit Police are required to comply with the policy.

“We know that vaccination is our best shield against this virus and implementing this policy is an important step in protecting our employees and customers,” said Kevin Quinn, TransLink CEO, in a statement Friday.

“This decision comes at a critical time, as more people return to traffic. It is vital that we do everything we can to stop the spread of COVID-19. “

TransLink says it will provide more information to a small number of employees who may be medically exempt from vaccination.

Other companies that have implemented mandatory staff vaccinations include Vancouver-based Telus Corp. and retailer London Drugs. Canada’s top banks, three of the nation’s top four accounting firms, and insurer Sun Life have issued similar requirements.
