Nova Scotia reported 1,147 new COVID-19 cases since the last update on December 24.
According to the province, there were 569 new cases reported on Saturday and 578 on Sunday.
There are a total of 826 cases in the Central Zone, 154 cases in the East Zone, 96 cases in the North Zone and 71 cases in the West Zone.

Sunday’s breakdown is 431 cases in the Central Zone, 56 cases in the East Zone, 52 cases in the North Zone and 39 cases in the West Zone. The breakdown on Saturday, December 25, was 395 cases in the Central Zone, 98 cases in the East Zone, 44 cases in the North Zone and 32 cases in the West Zone.
On December 24, NSHA labs completed 6,658 tests. On December 25, NSHA labs completed 4,491 tests.
Due to an increase in tests and positive cases, public health has had delays in follow-up, the province said.
“All cases will be asked to contact their close contacts. This may be the only contact that has a positive case with public health, “the province said in a statement.
Detailed follow-ups are being prioritized to support contact tracing in schools, long-term care, health centers, prisons, shelters, and other group settings.
