The province reported 237 new cases of the coronavirus in the past day, though limited testing of those with minimal symptoms or risk factors means that figure doesn’t indicate much about the prevalence of the virus.

But the most important indicators, hospitalizations and the number in intensive care, continue their fall: Hospitalized cases are at 345, a drop of 14 from Monday; and those in ICU number 50, a drop of one.

The five care homes where outbreaks are now over are Mission Creek Landing, Williams Lake Seniors Village and Fischer Place in Interior Health; and Selkirk Seniors Village and Parkwood Court in Island Health. That leaves eight outbreaks being dealt with in acute and long-term care in BC

With nearly 90 per cent of British Columbians at least double-vaccinated, the pace of new vaccinations has been slow in recent weeks, especially for first and second doses. About 3,100 people received a first dose of vaccine over the past week, while just over 15,000 got their second shot.

Meanwhile, about 23,200 people across the province received a booster shot since March 8. With 2,605,260 people now having gotten boosted, about 56.7 per cent of the eligible population (those 12-and-older) have been triple-vaccinated.
