COVID-19: New Brunswick QR Code Vaccine Passport Launch in Mid-November – New Brunswick | The Canadian News

A standardized COVID-19 vaccine passport that can be used in all provinces and territories, as well as international travel, is scheduled to roll out in New Brunswick in mid-November, Prime Minister Blaine Higgs announced Thursday.

In early September, Higgs announced that it was exploring the idea of requiring proof of vaccination to encourage more people to get vaccinated.

On September 15, he made it an official policy in the province. Proof of vaccination was required in restaurants, as well as in:

  • indoor festivals, performing arts and sporting events;
  • eat and drink indoors and outdoors in restaurants, pubs and bars;
  • cinemas, nightclubs, entertainment centers, billiard rooms, bowling alleys and casinos;
  • gyms, indoor pools, and indoor recreational facilities;
  • indoor group exercise facilities;
  • meetings organized indoors including weddings, funerals, parties (except parties in a private home), conferences and workshops;
  • sports, classes and group recreational activities organized indoors; and
  • visit a long-term care facility.

However, the province did not have a standardized system for the locations that had to request it, like the system implemented in Ontario. He told residents that a physical copy or photocopy of the vaccination record and photo ID would suffice as proof.

That will change next month, Higgs said.

“The standardized vaccination test will facilitate international travel and can be used in all jurisdictions in Canada. The downloadable test can be downloaded to any device and can also be printed. New Brunswick has met all of its milestones in this development work, ”he said.

“We are on track to deliver our QR code as proof of vaccination credentials in mid-November.”

It will be a system based on QR codes. The code is scanned by the phone of another device and the document will appear.

The federal government made the same announcement Thursday.

The vaccine passport will show your name, date of birth, and COVID-19 vaccine history, including the doses you received and when you received them.

“I am pleased to confirm that all provinces and territories have confirmed that they will go ahead with a standardized national vaccination test,” Trudeau said, speaking to reporters.

Trudeau added that Saskatchewan, Ontario, Québec, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and all three territories have already put this national standard into use. It’s because those systems already included QR code technology.
