COVID-19: NB Reports 100 New Cases, Active Cases Top 900 – New Brunswick | The Canadian News

New Brunswick reported 100 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths on Saturday, the province announced in a statement.

Since Friday, 52 people have recovered from the disease and hospitalizations have decreased slightly. As of Saturday, there were 56 people in the hospital and 23 people in an intensive care unit.

“Of those in the hospital, 41 are not vaccinated, four are partially vaccinated and 11 are fully vaccinated,” the statement said.

The number of active cases in the province is 929.

Of the new cases, 66 people were not vaccinated, five were partially vaccinated, and 29 were fully vaccinated. Currently, 81.3 percent of eligible New Brunswick residents are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and 90.5 percent have received their first dose.

New Brunswick residents across the province, not just the hot spot areas affected by “circuit breaker” restrictions, can only celebrate Thanksgiving with their homes this year, unless they gather at a location that requires proof of vaccination.

This order went into effect on Friday at 6 pm and will be in effect until 11:59 pm on Monday, October 11.

In some areas of the province, there are stricter measures to keep COVID-19 cases under control. They also started on Friday and are expected to last 14 days.

Those areas are Zone 1 (Moncton region) as far north as Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, Zone 3 (Fredericton region) in the upper Saint John River valley north of Florenceville-Bristol and included, and all of Zone 4 (Edmundston Region).

While businesses and events can be opened, clients will need proof of vaccination for admission.

Outbreak at Loch Lomond

Loch Lomond Villa has declared an outbreak at its independent living apartments in Saint John. The facility at 165 Loch Lomond Rd. Is closed to visitors with immediate effect due to a COVID-19 outbreak, the company announced on its Facebook page.

As a precaution, its two other independent living apartment buildings at 219 and 221 Ellerdale St. are also closed to visitors and tenants are encouraged to maintain their family bubble.

The long-term care facility says more information will be provided when it becomes available.

New cases

Thirty-four of the new cases were found in Zone 1, the Moncton region. They involve:

  • 19 people under 19 years of age;
  • a person 20-29;
  • four people 30-39;
  • five people between 40 and 49 years old;
  • four people 60-69; and
  • a person 70-79.

Of these, 19 cases are under investigation and 15 are close contacts of previously confirmed cases.

Four new cases were found in Zone 2, the Saint John region. They involve:

  • a person 19 years of age or younger;
  • a person 20-29; and
  • two people 60-69.

Three are contacts of previously confirmed cases and the other is under investigation.

There are 21 new cases in Zone 3, the Fredericton region. They involve:

  • nine people under the age of 19;
  • three people 30-39;
  • four people 40-49;
  • two people 50-59;
  • a person 60-69;
  • a person 70-79; and
  • a person 80-89.

Of these, 19 are under investigation and two are contacts of previously confirmed cases.

In Zone 4, the Edmunston region, 13 new cases were found. They involve:

  • five people under the age of 19;
  • two people 30-39;
  • a person from 40 to 49 years old;
  • a person from 50 to 59;
  • two people 60-69; and
  • two people 70-79.

Ten cases are under investigation and three are contacts of previously confirmed cases.

Eleven new cases were found in Zone 5, the Campbellton region. They involve:

  • two people 19 years of age or younger;
  • three people 20-29;
  • a person 30-39;
  • two people 40-49;
  • a person 50-59; and
  • two people 70-79.

Of these, 10 are under investigation and one is a contact from a previously confirmed case.

Six new cases were found in Zone 6, the Bathurst region. They involve:

  • two people 19 years of age or younger;
  • two people 20-29;
  • a person 30-39; and
  • a person 50-59.

Three cases are under investigation and three are contacts of previously confirmed cases.

And 11 new cases were found in Zone 7, the Miramichi region. They involve:

  • five people under the age of 19;
  • a person 20-29;
  • two people 30-39;
  • a person 40-49;
  • a person 60-69; and
  • a person 80-89.

Seven cases are under investigation and four are contacts of previously confirmed cases.
